Tell us about an expert/person in your field that you admire

  Hello!  Today I am going to tell you about the first female pharmaceutical chemist in Chile, Griselda Hinojosa.  She then entered to study Chemistry and Pharmacy at the Universidad de Chile, where her university career was not without setbacks, since in the final stage of her training she failed. However, she  managed  to graduate on December 4, 1899. After leaving the university, she formed a partnership with Percival Rojas to lead the "botica y droguería copiapo". Then, together with her husband, she founded the farmacy “Manuel Antonio Matta”.   Researching about her I realized that I feel a great admiration for her, because she was part of the first group of women to obtain a university degree in Chile. How Can Your Major Make the World a Better Place

 Chemistry and Pharmacy is a career that affects the health area throughout the world, since it is a speciality that is mainly responsible for the development, formulation, dispensing of multiple drugs to the population. The career of chemistry and pharmacy has multiple areas of work, where you can work in pharmacies, hospitals, clinics and laboratories. However, I see myself working in a laboratory, contributing to the research of new molecules and formulations of different drugs. And also on a day-to-day basis, encouraging my immediate family to consume medicines appropriately and responsibly. My specialty contributes to the world by improving people's health through the creation and dispensation of different medicines, thus making a contribution to the fight against various viruses and diseases. In this way, it also contributes to generating new knowledge about the effects that these drugs can have on people's health. Thanks for reading, see you in the next blog!
